I am Beautiful not Am I Beautiful?

Often times I asked my husband, am I beautiful? And his automatic response is you’re the most beautiful woman in the whole world. And he will crown it by saying, more than so and so, i.e a movies star, a model or even a beauty queen. Alone, I usually consider his response and always thought he had actually told me what he felt I needed to hear, and I will say to myself, once I was beautiful now I am fat and ugly.

This insecurity usually comes after meeting old friends and acquaintances that once knew me as a very slim and beautiful young lady. But after two kids and several years of marriage, my appearance has totally changed; personally I am now overweight with a tummy that refused to go down after childbirth. Obviously I don’t see myself as he is seeing me and I’d rather see myself as those old friends are seeing me. But having read Ephe 2:10 as made me realise that I am indeed beautiful, forget about physical appearance, I have a beauty within that transcend outwards to magnify my physical beauty.

Friends have been known to sometimes tell me, you don’t have a problem because you’re very pretty and your husband won’t get tired of looking, NO, beauty is more than outward appearance. Never compare yourself with others, who are thinner, curvier or younger than you are, but remember you are God’s MASTERPIECE

Whether old or young, God made us beautiful, but most of us allow cares and worries to take away that beauty from us. The beauty within us is supposed to connect with the physical beauty to give us the glorious look we have been gifted with from God i.e, if we light up from within, any plain face we have will be good to behold.

Even if it is not possible for us to get rid of that plain face, excess fat and other physical imperfections ………… it is possible for us, with God’s help, to grow a mind and soul so big that when people look at our faces, they see an uncommon beauty from the father of creations. If you love God and do his will then you are beautiful because strength and beauty are in his sanctuary Psa 96:6b

“Leave and Cleave”

Mark 10:7 & 8, for this reason a man will leave his father and mother, and the two will become one flesh. So they are no longer two, but one flesh.

I love the leaving and cleaving part, it has always appealed to me whenever I need to address a situation in which relatives find it difficult to understand that marriage is between just two people, the husband and the wife. Whatever problems they encounter in their union should not be seen by relatives (parents) included as a signal that they need to intervene.

I call it “nose posing” into affairs of the heart. It complicates issues and makes it extremely difficult to settle such issues within the confines of the bedroom. Parent want to take sides, they will be partial to their own whether he/she is the injured party or not. It is in a rare case that we have impartial parents, ready to tell it as it is, believing that both husband and wife have become their own through their union. And even at that, there is a limit to the kind of info you allow them acess to if you want your marriage to last long. Important points to note:

Never let your relatives know who owns what in the house, let it be understood at all times that everything you have is jointly owned by both of you.

Don’t complain about your spouse to any of them, if you do, you are leaving your spouse open to criticisms, either immediately or later in the future.

Always let them know of your love and respect for each other, that way, they will find it difficult to be disrespectful.

Let them understand that you value each others opinion; when you need to consult each other before taking a decision or committing to something they will not read other meanings into it.

Above all, make them understand that their interference will not be appreciated, that way; they will leave you alone to sort out your problems if the need arose.

All these mean that you will truly be in love and LOVE IS A COMMITMENT WITH A BEGINNING AND NO END. So watch it and don’t allow others dictate the pace of your marriage. Relatives have their place in our lives, but not in our marriage!

Christianity and family planning.

I have read series of articles about this hot topic on various websites some of which will be listed after this post for reference. Family planning is proving to be a controversial issue in Christendom and I have to wonder why.
Some Christians believe it is wise for Christians to use birth control while some others for reasons best known to them believe it is a sin because children are God’s gift. Of course I believe that everyone is entitled to his or her opinion, but I have seen good Christians have several children they could not cater for all because they refuse the use of birth control. I believe that one should have children they can comfortably feed, cloth, send to school and offer good parental care.
I wonder which is the greater sin, bringing children into the world to suffer poverty or taking care to not have more than you can care for. If you plan to have lots of children, you should be financially capable of taking care of them. After having the numbers of children you want, then what happens to sex in the marriage? I hope it is not forgotten that Apostle Paul says; husband and wife should not deny each other so they will not be tempted 1 Cor. 7:5.
What then is the sin? Use of birth control to prevent unwanted pregnancies as a married couple?
Deny your husband or wife sexual pleasure because you don’t want to have any more children, thereby causing him/her to stray?
May God help us all!

For Men’s Attention:Ways to keep your wife closer:

Treat her like a queen!
Most men are under the impression that women, if treated nicely will get spoilt, grow wings or have an inflated ego. NO! When a woman is treated well and accord all due respect, it brings out the good qualities in her. Remember there is a sublime level where, if you carry a person to, he/she begins to acquire noble qualities and show grace rather than being naughty. It is to this level that husbands must lift their wives. Recall the popular saying; “you scratch my back I scratch your back”. Treat her well and you will receive it in good measure.

Care for her

Fact of the matter is that women love to be cared for. We love to be pampered and treated like a queen, no woman is an exception. And care is one of the ways that any wise man will employ to his wife closer. If you must keep your woman closer, you must work hard at caring for her needs, finding out what makes her happy or cry, cry with, laugh with her according to the season tell more than any word could.

Consult her;

When taking decisions that directly or indirectly affect her, please consult her. She is supposed to be the sounding board on which your plans and moves will be tested before taking decisions. She is your second in command and so should be your no.1 adviser.

Seeking her advise is important as this will make her realise how much you value and believe in her even when you will not be bound by the advise.

Lovemaking:

In this generation, women are beginning to regard the level of lovemaking demanded by their husbands as an index of the love they have for them because the world we live in now, there are intruders and man snatching is rampant, it is possible that a man had already has his fill outside only for him to come home to ignore the wife or see the wife as undesirable. The level of lovemaking demanded by a man can be an indication of the man’s faithfulness to his wife, so it is highly important to have a good bedroom relationship as it can breed a closeness that is noticeable at any level of marriage.

Going out and surprise purchases for her can really show that you care.

Joint Bank Account.

Is it really good for a couple to have/keep a joint bank account?

Can you as a woman or man agree to such arrangement?

On what grounds can a couple opened a joint bank account and to what purpose?

I could not answer any of the above questions because I have never and will never keep a joint account. I don’t think it is necessary and it is not a way to demonstrate how much I love my husband/trust him, NO. I love my husband, I also trust him but the issue of joint bank account has never arisen. Of course I have access to his ATM cards and vice versa, we do sign blank checks for each other to use and so on, I don’t think we require any more to show that we love and trust each other.

A friend of mine at the husband’s bidding opened a joint account with the husband. Both of them had to deposit half of their salaries into the account for the upkeep of the home and children. They both have good jobs and are highly paid, after a while, huge sums of money-started disappearing from the account without explanation and the wife had to cater to household needs with the other half of her salary. She later found out that the man is fully into adultery and all other terrible vices you could think of. Of course my friend had to withdraw from the arrangement and that made the man furious, so much so that now, it is only God that could calm the situation.

Of course I don’t know the kind of advice I’d give my friend, but it is bad to know that your husband is using your hard earned cash to buy all sorts of expensive gifts and even car for another woman outside, while the woman had to manage on her own to pay the bills including children’s school fees which was supposed to be their joint responsibility.

Is it really worth it?

Husband and wife, the crucial link in marriage.

A husband and his wife are the bedrock of a family. When their union is broken the family fall apart, and that is why it is important for the husband and wife to hold each other well and no wonder the bible has so much to say about how husbands and wives should treat each other.
HUSBANDS
It advised the husbands to love and treat their wives as their own bodies because he who loves his wife loves himself for there is no man that hate his own flesh but feed and cherish it. A husband who loves his wife, as his own body is not brutal or hateful to her. He does not abuse her verbally or strike her physically nor abuse her emotionally. He is always ready to accord her due respect, same esteem and consideration he shows himself. When he does this, the wife feels loved and secures in her marriage and he in turn shows his children how a woman should be treated.
WIVES
Wives are also advised to have deep respect for their husbands because a woman who has deep respect for her husband does not strip him of his dignity by constantly criticizing him or belittling him. And because she has so much respect for him, he feels trusted, accepted and appreciated.
A father and mother should try to have a loving, healthy and strong relationship between them in order to breed security in their children. A good communication practice and an effective method of reconciling differences should be adopted.
Also adopt the policy of: NOBODY GOES TO BED ANGRY AT ANOTHER.

Laziness

This is aversion or disinclination to work, activity, or exertion; indolent. A lazy person exhibits slothfulness, indolence, and often times, sluggish. Personally, I detest laziness and do not really want any form of association with a lazy person. People generally despised and condemn any person known to be lazy.
Like all other vices, laziness is first contrived in the mind before it manifest outwardly. A lazy person sets up barriers within his mind to justify his not doing what he was supposed to do. Such people think the world owes them a living, and if by mistake they put a little effort in something, they feel they have done their own bit. They are wise in their own eyes thinking that hardwork does not pay; others blame the government for their status or lack of it. The funny part is that, lazy people have higher desire for things (clothes, praise, food, cars etc.) compared to hardworking people. And when those desires cannot be met, they resort to cut corners to get what they want.
Laziness could lead to robbery, theft, prostitution, and fraudster’s aka 419 because an idle mind is the devil’s workshop. Lazy people hardly get jobs and even when they do, it does not last because they are sure to be fired as soon as their character become known.
Because of the idle state of their unoccupied mind, they are prone to gossip, poke into other people’s affair, they loiter, trespass and all sorts of unimaginable things. Parents should teach their children to be hardworking, but of course, the best way to teach is by example. So be a hard worker so your children can emulate you.
Hardwork precedes excellence; hard work is the only sure way to have good success.
Remember, there is dignity in labour.

Overcoming family debts.

Debt is something that is owed or that one is bound to pay to or perform for another. Debt could result from borrowing; it could be from unredeemed pledges and vows, or from buying things on credit. Borrowing is an act of taking something that belongs to another to use with the hope of repaying at a latter time, it results into debt. It is not a sin to borrow, when you borrow in good faith with the hope of paying back what you owe.
One may be forced to borrow to ensure that his/her family does not go hungry especially when things are a bit down for the breadwinner. It is only wrong to borrow to buy clothing items, luxuries like a car, TV sets or borrow to host a party especially when you know you don’t have a hope of paying back. One can borrow for business when you have faith in yourself that you could make a success of that business and you know that you are disciplined enough to use the money for that purpose. Borrowing for business is taking a risk,so one must seriously consider the cons and pros of such a venture before embarking on it.
Borrowing could be as a result of:
  • Lack of contentment
  • Inability to set priorities right;Covetousness
  • Poverty
  • Necessity – school fees, house rents, bills; hospital, utility etc.
  • People also borrow when their expenditure is much more than their income.
Effects of Debt:
  • Public embarrassment or disgrace;
  • The borrower will lack peace of mind because debt hunts;
  • Terminal problems or sickness such as hypertension; migraine; headache; heart attack etc may result from too much thinking;
  • Enslavement; a debtor will be a slave to his creditors;
  • A debtor may not be able to move freely for fear of running into the person he /she is indebted to.
Solution:
  • Learn to control internal urgings, appetite and those things that push one into unnecessary spending;
  • Maintain a proper budgeting habit;
  • Cry out to people who could help sort out issues and also offer valuable ideas for a better way of life;
  • If one way failed, looked for other right or legal ways to make a living. Or start a business of your own;
  • Look inward; you may have an idea that could spring things up, constantly be on the lookout for opportunities around you;
  • Pray.
Shalom!

Teach your children to love.

No one is actually an expert when it comes to raising children, all we can do is try to learn from the one who knows best how to raise children (God), so when we talk about raising children the right way, we can only believe that with the help of God we can succeed as parents. But the greatest gift a parent can give to their children is to help them develop respect and a loving attitude towards all people regardless of class, social status, race, tribe, language or state of health.
In other to teach children to love, parents also need to show how much they treasure their own relationship with others starting from the relationship between their parents. Parents that openly display love and affection like telling each other “I love you”, kissing each other often (Not the amorous kind in presence of children) and so on are sending a message to their children that they love and care for each other. Make it a point of duty to also say nice and encouraging words about people, don’t say bad/negative things about others, don’t discriminate or gossip idly and carelessly around them, it sent bad vibes to the children and can portray those people as bad. Keep your reservations about others to yourself or until when they are not present to witness it.
Are you ever jealous? Then be very careful so that your children don’t copy it because love is not jealous. You see, jealousy can occur in a family if the parents favour one child over another, it could cause a problem between them that may be irreparable and can even make them want to hurt each other. It could caused big trouble, so teach your children to avoid giving in to jealous but love one another and even others that are not members of your family.
Above all, the best way to teach children to love is by example, this is so important because, you can’t tell them to love while you hate, love all men, do things that shows you care for people, teach them to be patient with others cause love is patient; teach them to be sensitive and gentle cause love is kind; teach them to be humble in all things because, love is not arrogant, it does not brag or show off.
May God help us we raise great and amazing children .
Shalom!

Are you a good parent?

Being a good parent is not by buying children expensive gifts, clothe items or by enrolling them in the best schools, but by spending time with them, giving them enough attention, teaching them all they will need to grow up as responsible adults who fear God. Being a good father or mother is easy; all a parent needs to do is spend more time with their kids even if they had to earn less money to create the time. Hug them as often as possible, have fun with them, always listen to their problems, talk with them about their day, tell them stories especially bible stories and teach them to pray often. When children are denied of their parents love and attention they will be miserable and empty in their hearts, that is why as soon as some enter into their teens they turn to friends for consolation, some turn to sex and others to drinks or some other vices to satisfy the emptiness within them. Create time to teach them all they need to know at the appropriate age. (Deut. 6:6-7).
Don’t neglect to discipline your children; Prov 23:13-14 - Do not withhold discipline from a child; even if you strike him with the rod, he will not die. If you strike him with the rod, you will deliver him from death. Even though the bible approve of child discipline, don’t abuse it, never hit a child on the head, don’t shake a child, the best and safest place to beat a child is on the buttocks, and remember not too hard, a few small whacks to remind the child to obey you is enough.
There is a right time and a wrong time to discipline a child, when a child is deliberately disobey the parent by not doing what he was asked to do, for example; when you asked a child to take a dirty linen to the laundry or pack dirty dishes from the dinning to the kitchen and he chooses not to do it, then you can discipline the child that is deliberate disobedient. But when a child forget to do something he/she was supposed to do or the child made a mistake then you should not discipline such child. You can let the child know that he has done something wrong and correct him accordingly.
Learn to praise your children when they do something well, try to notice all the things they do well and praise them for it. Cultivate a habit of praising them more than you punish them.

A True Life Story Part 1

This is an old post from my other blog, enjoy it!
My husband was the first man in my life and we loved each other dearly even before we got married. I come from a fairly rich family, so my father could afford to send me to the United States of America for further learning after my first degree. My husband finished from the same university I attended a year before me, and he was about rounding off his national youth service when I was leaving for the US. It was a tough decision for me to take because I was not sure I would still have him when I returned to Nigeria.

I finally made up my mind to go, but not until my people had agreed to a wedding date. I was to come back after four months for the wedding. We agreed that my father would arrange my husband’s trip to the US too, so that we would not stay apart, and that he did in a record time.

The wedding was a big one. His people had nothing, so we had to shoulder the responsibility of making it successful. I was responsible for everything his nuclear family used on that day, and they were grateful. After the wedding, we travelled together to the U.S. I waited till I had finished my master’s programme before I got pregnant. All through that time, my husband remained the calm and loving guy I had met and married. Then suddenly, God answered our prayers and everything changed for better. My husband met some of his schoolmates in the U.S and before I knew it, money started rolling in from everywhere.

I was happy, that at last, he was going to bail out his entire family from poverty. I also felt happy that I was instrumental to his breakthrough. He took very good care of my baby and me and also went home regularly to see his people. His job would not allow for him to just sit back in the U.S. He travelled a lot to England and other countries. I had another child for him two years after the first one, and I did not suspect that he had changed from the man that I knew. Three years after his status changed, a friend of mine called me and said I must take the next flight to Nigeria to see what my husband was doing behind my back. I did not take her serious at first. But when she said she would pay my fare to Nigeria, I knew she meant business.

She told me to come on a particular day, and said I must not let my husband or even my people know that I had plans to come to Nigeria. I took my children to a friend’s place so that I would be able to go to Nigeria as advised by my friend. She was at the airport the day I arrived Nigeria to take me straight to our house in Lagos. I asked her what the matter was. She said she had thought she should not tell me what it was until we got there, but on a second thought, she felt that if she did not, I could faint by the time I saw what was happening. She told me that they were having a naming ceremony in our house in Lagos and that my mother-in-law sold Ankara to her friends and hired a band.

To say I was surprised would be an understatement. I was dumbfounded. However, I promised my friend that I would just walk in like a guest and leave them to their conscience. But when I got there, I could not. I went straight into our bedroom and found the mother of the baby there changing her clothes in the presence of some of her friends. My friend was following me to prevent me from doing anything rash, but she was not close enough. I grabbed the woman and dragged her out of the room, cursing on top of my voice as I did so.

My husband came and started begging. He prostrated and said I should not put him to shame, but I told him that the U.S police would soon come after him. I demanded that he sent the woman and her people out of the house immediately. When he was not doing so, I ran to the kitchen and took a knife. Immediately, he sent them and the baby out. When the fight was over, I sat down on the bed and cried. My friend could not leave me alone because she did not know what could happen next. It was very difficult for me to bear such, but my husband was so remorseful that I did not know what to do. I had thought it was the end of our relationship but he begged that he did not know what went over him.

I was to spend only one week in Nigeria, so two days after that incident, I went to my parents’ house to let them know I was around and to tell my mother what happened despite the fact that my husband begged me not to. I felt that if I did not tell her, I would be doing myself more harm. She screamed when I told her what happened and told me to tell my husband to see her. My husband respected my parents very much, so he went to see her immediately. I was there also. My mother talked to him like her son and he started crying. He said he did not really understand how all that happened and that it was as if he was under a spell.

On that note, we both left for the U.S. All attempts to see my mother-in-law proved abortive. My friend said it could be that she could not face me after all that happened that day. When we got back to the US, my husband kept to his promise to be a good husband. He refused to see the woman again and only sent money for the upkeep of her baby. But his mother was not happy. She called him one day and started saying all sorts of things on the phone. She did not know that I was the one that had picked the receiver, so she started saying that he was not meant for one woman only, that he was going to marry the woman that bore him a son whether he liked it or not. She said she knew that my parents and I had charmed him and that before long, he would see her handiwork. She said any mother that did not want her to reap the fruit of her labour in respect of her son would die untimely. She said she knew that my husband had made my mother his mother, and that she would make sure that she corrected that.

That day, I just dropped the phone without letting her know that she had been talking to the wrong person. I wondered how the woman could change so much overnight. The same woman that almost cursed herself as she prayed for me the day my father got my husband a visa. The woman who promised to fight tooth and nail to make sure I reaped the fruit of my labour. I was crying when my husband came in. He asked what happened and I told him. He said she was just being a woman and that I should not mind her. But deep down in me, I knew I was in for real trouble.

Two months after that, we heard the shocking news that my beloved mother had died.

Conflict in Marriage.

Marital Conflict is a situation in which husband and wife are involved in serious disagreement or argument. A situation where both of them have contrasting ideas, opinions, feelings, or wishes which may result in violence. As it is common knowledge that no marriage is perfect, it is to be understood that sometimes a husband and wife may find themselves falling apart over certain issues which if not properly managed could turn the home into a battle field.
There are several reasons why conflict could arise between a husband and a wife; some are trivial while some are important. Whichever, it is always good for the parties concern to be honest about their own shortcomings. If both of you know the area in which each is personally lacking, when there is disagreement, one of you will be better able to deal with his/her own feelings whether negative or positive while trying to understand what the other person is about. This will give you a better angle to focus on the reason behind the conflict in order for you to be able to clarify the issue and facilitates quick resolution.
Major causes of Conflicts in Marriage.
Lack of  Submission: wives failure to submit to their husbands as biblically instructed can cause conflict in the home. It is crucial to note that where a woman fails to submit to the husband there is tendency that the relationship will lack peace and harmony. Ephe 5:22 Wives, submit to your husbands as to the Lord.
Lack of care and attention: couples are expected to give care and undivided attention to each other. Never neglect each other, make time out to be together.
Third Party Intrusion: conflict could arise when inlaws and other extended family members poke their noses into your family affairs; it is always better to keep your problems to yourself. Learn not to invite external parties into your conflict, because escalating the conflict could expose either of you to criticisms.
Lack of love or failure to love; most people find it relatively difficult to express love to one another, not just saying “I Love YOU” but showing it by doing things that express how much the other partner is loved. Some believe that showing love could put them at a disadvantage or that the other person may take being love for granted. Husband need to express love constantly to their wives because women want love and understanding, but only few men understand it. Ephe 5:25, Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her.
Secrets or hidden agenda; if both husband and wife have secrets not known to each other, it could cause one or either of them to do things that exclude the other thereby creating gaps in the union. When honesty and openness is lacking, there is bound to be conflict.
Extra marital affair: Both husband and wife should be contented with each, this is important to the growth of any marriage. Having relationships outside marriage can only bring deceit, distrust and will create a dent in the level of intimacy between the partners involved.
Sexual satisfaction; lack of sexual satisfaction could also cause conflict. Even though sex is not the most important factor in marriage, it is important for a healthy marriage. It is God’s intent that sexual intercourse bonds two people together for life in marriage; denial is therefore totally against the rules of marriage. God uses sexual intercourse, full sexual intimacy, to bring two married people together 1 Cor 7:3-5, A husband should give to his wife her sexual rights, and likewise a wife to her husband. It is not the wife who has the rights to her own body, but the husband. In the same way, it is not the husband who has the rights to his own body, but the wife. Do not deprive each other, except by mutual agreement for a specified time, so that you may devote yourselves to prayer.

Polygamy Revisited.

Marriage was instituted in Paradise when man was in innocence Genesis 2:18-24; it is most evident from Gen 2:24 (Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh) that monogamy was the original law of marriage and not polygamy. This law was violated when corrupt usages began to be introduced Gen 4:19, (And Lamech took unto him two wives: the name of the one was Adah and the name of the other Zillah). Polygamy was acknowledged in the Mosaic Law and made the basis of legislation, and continued to be practised all down through the period of Jewish histroy to the Captivity, after which there is no instance of it on record. The Law of Moses regulated but did not prohibit polygamy; a man might have many wives. Though King Saul had at least two wives (Ahinoam, Rizpah), Abraham had three wives (Sarah, Hagar, and Keturah), Moses had two wives (Zipporah and the Ethiopian woman), Solomon had 700 wives and 300 concubines and David had at least eight wives (Michal, Abigail, Ahinoam, Bathsheba, Maacah, Haggith, Abital, and Eglah) plus Saul’s wives, but that was not God’s standard, they allowed circumstances and situations to push them into polygamy knowing well that it was totally against the Law of God.

From the aforementioned, it is to be understood that God created man and woman in the Garden of Eden, not man and women. It is man and his wife that were naked, not man and his wives, girlfriends or concubines. Note that, a man shall cleave unto his wife so they can be one flesh, not that he shall cleave to wives. It is therefore a thing of pity to find that more and more women are going into polygamy for baseless reasons. There is no shortage of men as is the popular believe, some religion believe that by marrying many wives they are helping to reduce the number of women in need of marriage partners and that by so doing such women are prevented from committing sins of adultery and fornication. Marrying them also ensure that they are not prostituting themselves.

All in all, God frown on Polygamy, this is evident in the biblical definition of marriage as a physical and spiritual life-long covenant between a man and a woman before God and society. Contrary to the circular definition as polygamous, cohabitation, civil union, open marriage, serial monogamy and same sex marriage. All the above-mentioned worldly marriage is associated with consequences. A man married to more than one wife is surely digging his own grave because he will surely lack peace in his life and home. The women involved in such relationship will constantly undergo emotional turmoil.

Beware of polygamy, those in it has no good testimony, they always have a sad tale to tell.

Jealousy, the price a loser pays to a winner.

That is not the dictionary meaning of jealousy, just an analogy. The meaning from dictionary.com is jealous resentment against a rival, a person enjoying success or advantage, etc., or against another's success or advantage itself.

Jealousy is always the fear that something, which we hold dear, will be taken away by another person. Jealousy can apply to every areas of our lives; our jobs, our possessions, fame, business success / acumen, excellent grade, or our reputations, even though the word is more often used to describe the anxiety that comes when we are afraid that the affections of a loved one might be lost to a rival. We fear that our mates, or perhaps our children, will be lured away by some other person who, when compared to us, seems to be more attractive, capable and successful.

If we all agree that all men are not born equal, some have a measure of charisma, which the other lacks. Some have lovable personalities others don’t. I have traits that are quite different from my husband’s and children’s, if I understand this and the fact that when God created us all, he deposited different grace in every one of us, then i will have no reason to be envious, it breeds jealousy. In matt 25:14-30 the master gave talents to all the servants according to their predetermined abilities. This simply tells us that we all have resources, talents, grace and ability to make it and be whoever or whatever we want to be; our success is not dependent on any man except God. I have this understanding and that is why is very easy for me not to be bothered by issues like page rank, links to popular blog, number of visitor and other blogging promotional related issues.

Don’t get me wrong; they are good if they are achieved by pure hardwork and not by copying other successful bloggers posts in other to draw the same traffic to your otherwise unknown blog. Begging for links is also wrong, when I started blogging, I thought the best way to move ahead is by begging bigger blogs for links, some of the big blogs even offer to sell their links in exchange for money, it’s totally wrong! They also started blogging the same way every other blogger started and over time with lots of dedication, self-discipline, hardwork and focus became bloggers to reckon with.

In general, a jealous person feel happy when the rival is experiencing pains, failure, heartbreak, disappointment simply because, what makes the person better than him is being taken away from the person. I read somewhere than the first major sign of jealousy is when it’s easier to show sympathy and weep with those who weep than it is to exhibit joy and rejoice with those who rejoice.

I have learned that if I work hard enough I will get that which is due to me without any struggle other than the hardwork I have invested. I don’t need to envy that which another person has.
A jealous person ends up hurting no one but himself.

Let us take heed.

How well do you know your children!

Our children are our best assets, but when they are unknowingly neglected on the premise of work or trying to provide for the family by either the father or mother and in some cases by both parent, the children tend to fend for themselves and along the way, develop all sorts of character and vices that the parents are not aware of. They mixed with friends that the parents may not approve of because there is no supervision from their parent and even when the parent’s are at home they show little concern for the friends their children make, the magazines they read, or the TV programs they watch.

Often times, these children are left in the care of househelps or relatives who do not care what the children do to keep themselves busy as long as they are not pestering. Some of these children suffer a lot at the hands of the people they are trusted with, of course, their parents may not know anything about it especially for those too young or those that are not bold and wise enough to report to their absent parents. And for those children in their teens, they are taught a lot of bad things which these children may accept as normal without question or are made to believe that if such are made known to their parents they will be punished or they may be construed as telling tales.

Some of these children lose their innocence without the parent’s knowledge; they matured quickly into adulthood as a result of keeper’s bad influence, peer pressure and unhealthy exposure to TV and Internet because the parent did not exercise either a positive or negative control over their usage. Because they are also made to fend for themselves for such a long time while the parents are busy making money, they are forced to take critical decisions on their own. Some of those children exposed to child abuse are those left in the care of others by their parents, they grow up being rebellious, degenerates, child abusers, perverts, and renown sex offenders.

Parents must take care, it is good to work and make money for your family but not at the expense of the child, a parent’s responsibility is not to his child’s happiness; but to his character.

Parents should not allow their own interests to keep them from taking the time to talk, listen, admonish and instruct their children on what they should know, if they do, they will seek answers from others outside and they may not always get the right answers.

Parents should also know that, if their children were constantly left in the care of others, the children would start to avoid them and they may eventually have problems getting attached to their parents.

Lastly, parents should learn to balance time at work with time spent with their children.

Peace!

Is childlessness enough reason for break-up?

Readers please assist to give reasonable answers to this topic. A friend asked me yesterday if she should divorce her husband and look for love elsewhere since it seems they are not destined to have children together. This kind of question I don’t usually like to give answers to simply because I don’t want to be quoted. So I simply asked her to go to God in prayer and not be deceived by the circumstances surrounding her presently, as she never can predict God.

She got married seven years back and since there has never been a pregnancy, not even for a day. They have both visited various doctors, who certified them okay, but then nothing seems forth coming and the in-laws are getting restless and also insinuating all sorts of things. The issue came to a climax when she overheard her hubby’s parent telling their son to look for children elsewhere because the wife is a “male pawpaw” that is, a barren woman. This made her decide to also look elsewhere for a solution before she is unceremoniously dumped.

I am of the opinion that only God gives children, they are gifts from him and if he has not decided to bestow that blessing on someone, then, there is nothing anyone can do about it.

Genesis 16:2; so she said to Abram, "The LORD has kept me from having children. Go, sleep with my maidservant; perhaps I can build a family through her." Abram agreed to what Sarai said.

Genesis 29:32 Leah became pregnant and gave birth to a son. She named him Reuben, for she said, "It is because the LORD has seen my misery. Surely my husband will love me now."

Genesis 30:1-3
When Rachel saw that she was not bearing Jacob any children; she became jealous of her sister. So she said to Jacob, "Give me children, or I'll die!" Jacob became angry with her and said, "Am I in the place of God, who has kept you from having children?" Then she said, "Here is Bilhah, my maidservant. Sleep with her so that she can bear children for me and that through her I too can build a family."
These two women suffered the consequences of their action simply because they both could not wait for God to do it at his own time.

Please, take time to drop a word of advice.

Shalom!

Homosexuality and Gay marriages.

The word gay from oxford dictionary means first, of homosexuals or for homosexuals, second: careless, without worries and third: happy and full of life. While homosexuality is sexual desire or behavior directed toward a person or persons of one's own sex.

Now talking about marriage, the social institution under which a man and woman establish their decision to live as husband and wife by legal commitments, religious ceremonies, etc. and by its nature, it is ordered towards the good of the spouses and the procreation and education of the offspring. Hence man and woman was ordained to live in love and share love with each other, it is divine and not man-made.

From the aforementioned, it is crystal clear that the coinage of the words GAY and MARRIAGE is contradictory and in fact outside the normal. This implies that both words are irreconcilable because gayism is homogenous – between those of opposite sex; but the sense of marriage is outside the context of homosexuality because there is no point of agreement as they have different aims and in the same vein different means and end.

Gen 1:27-28, so God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them. And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: if God had intended the so called same sex marriage, he would have as well leave man lonely without creating a woman and device his own supernatural way of multiplying the earth. Remember, the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah was because of the sin of homosexuality, Leviticus 18:22, Thou shall not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination and Lev 20:13, If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them.

Conclusively, the battle against this disease, (because I see it as a disease) involves every right thinking individual who still have some moral preservation. It is our duties to educate and counsel those who seem to be disposed towards this ugly and awkward act. Rather than allowing them to influence us, let us work together to influence the perverted ones among us.

Good must be done and evil must be totally avoided.

Shalom!

What Happens When Love Waxes and Wanes?

The phenomenon of Love shall till the end of time remain a mystery, two people crossed each other’s path and decided without outside interference that they will love and cherish each other till the end of time. But due to reasons best known to them, both suddenly upped and decided to go their separate ways, without giving any thought to how it was, how it could be if only they could work things out and how it is going to be out there without their other half.

Most couples after separation never do really find the peace and happiness that they seek. Some have even confessed that they wished they had work things out rather than leaving. Rather interesting, a case of the devil you know is better than an angel you have not seen.

So, what happens when love waxes and wanes?

Renew it!

Start the renewal process before things get out of hand.

How do I know when love begins to wane?

The signs are always there, they never change, though it varies from couple to couple, some of them are ;
  • Avoiding intimacies with each other, especially sexual intimacy. The other person suddenly seems like a different person, he/she no longer appeals to you in anyway.
  • Certain things you previously desire about the person now seem irritating. Everything he/she does make you angry.
  • You can no longer stand the sight of the person, whenever you are in each other’s presence one or both of you easily gets provoked by what the other is saying/doing.
  • Prefer other peoples company to being with each other. Both make great effort to avoid contact.
  • Little things you do for each other now become a burden.
  • You both have secrets that the other does not know.
  • Outsiders have first hand information about recent happenings in your life, when your partner is denied such info.

Renewal:
Being in love is a good thing, but it is not the best thing. There are many things below it, but there are also things above it. You cannot make it the basis of a whole life. It is a noble feeling, but it is still a feeling. Now no feeling can be relied on to last in its full intensity, or even to last at all.... In fact, the state of being in love usually does not last.... But of course ceasing to be ‘in love’ need not mean ceasing to love. Love...is a deep unity, maintained by the will and deliberately strengthened by habit; reinforced by the grace which both partners ask and receive from God.... They can retain this love even when each would easily, if they allowed themselves, be ‘in love’ with someone else. ‘Being in love’ first moved them to promise fidelity: this quieter love enables them to keep their promise. It is on this love that the engine of marriage is run: being in love was the explosion that started it.

  • Pledge your love continually and for as long as both of you are alive.
  • Shower each other with compliments
  • Spare no efforts to please him/her
  • Do things that tell/show your partner that you love him/her unconditionally, uncritically and sacrificially. Phil 1: 9
  • Be selfless, be thoughtful more so at a time like this.
  • Once in awhile, surprise each other with gifts, things you know your husband or wife will cherish.
  • Go out of your way to be as kind, considerate, and generous as possible.
  • Tell your partner how much he/she means to you, and show appreciation at every available opportunity because the ability to love is established not so much by fervent promise as often repeated deeds.
  • Lastly, Pray that God rekindle your love.
