Knowing your children

There is power in your smile.
Do you know that even though it lasts for just a few seconds, the memory of a smile could stay with you for the rest of your life? There is power in your smile, its value is immeasurable, it is immense because when a smile is directed at you, it makes you feel warm all over, you feel more relaxed and you feel you could handle any situation that arises. I remember the lyrics of a nursery song my son used to sing, it goes likeSo let the sun shine in,Smilers never lose
And Frowners never win…etc. (hope I got that right?)

Did you say Mumps?
I woke up Tuesday morning to notice a swelling on my son’s face. My first thought was that he had hit his face against a wall in the night or had a fight at school and someone hit him in the process. All the same my first reaction was to take him to the hospital because I will not know how serious it is until I get him to the hospital. The doctor said Mumps is a viral infection spread by airborne droplets from the nose or throat, that the disease is most common in children after the age of two. He said it is good that I brought him as soon as I noticed it, that if not quickly attended to, it could cause the child severe pain, increase body temperature, cause fever, make him unable to eat or chew anything and if not properly treated can affect the scrotum.26 November 2008

Jealousy, the price a loser pays to a winner.
That is not the dictionary meaning of jealousy, just an analogy. The meaning from dictionary.com is jealous resentment against a rival, a person enjoying success or advantage, etc., or against another's success or advantage itself.Jealousy is always the fear that something, which we hold dear, will be taken away by another person. Jealousy can apply to every areas of our lives; our jobs, our possessions, fame, business success / acumen, excellent grade, or our reputations, even though the word is more often used to describe the anxiety that comes when we are afraid that the affections of a loved one might be lost to a rival. We fear that our mates, or perhaps our children, will be lured away by some other person who, when compared to us, seems to be more attractive, capable and successful.
If we all agree that all men are not born equal, some have a measure of charisma, which the other lacks. Some have lovable personalities others don’t. I have traits that are quite different from my husband’s and children’s, if I understand this and the fact that when God created us all, he deposited different grace in every one of us, then i will have no reason to be envious, it breeds jealousy. In matt 25:14-30 the master gave talents to all the servants according to their predetermined abilities. This simply tells us that we all have resources, talents, grace and ability to make it and be whoever or whatever we want to be; our success is not dependent on any man except God. I have this understanding and that is why is very easy for me not to be bothered by issues like page rank, links to popular blog, number of visitor and other blogging promotional related issues.
Don’t get me wrong; they are good if they are achieved by pure hardwork and not by copying other successful bloggers posts in other to draw the same traffic to your otherwise unknown blog. Begging for links is also wrong, when I started blogging, I thought the best way to move ahead is by begging bigger blogs for links, some of the big blogs even offer to sell their links in exchange for money, it’s totally wrong! They also started blogging the same way every other blogger started and over time with lots of dedication, self-discipline, hardwork and focus became bloggers to reckon with.
In general, a jealous person feel happy when the rival is experiencing pains, failure, heartbreak, disappointment simply because, what makes the person better than him is being taken away from the person. I read somewhere than the first major sign of jealousy is when it’s easier to show sympathy and weep with those who weep than it is to exhibit joy and rejoice with those who rejoice.
I have learned that if I work hard enough I will get that which is due to me without any struggle other than the hardwork I have invested. I don’t need to envy that which another person has.
A jealous person ends up hurting no one but himself.
Let us take heed.

Homosexuality and Gay marriages.
The word gay from oxford dictionary means first, of homosexuals or for homosexuals, second: careless, without worries and third: happy and full of life. While homosexuality is sexual desire or behavior directed toward a person or persons of one's own sex.Now talking about marriage, the social institution under which a man and woman establish their decision to live as husband and wife by legal commitments, religious ceremonies, etc. and by its nature, it is ordered towards the good of the spouses and the procreation and education of the offspring. Hence man and woman was ordained to live in love and share love with each other, it is divine and not man-made.
From the aforementioned, it is crystal clear that the coinage of the words GAY and MARRIAGE is contradictory and in fact outside the normal. This implies that both words are irreconcilable because gayism is homogenous – between those of opposite sex; but the sense of marriage is outside the context of homosexuality because there is no point of agreement as they have different aims and in the same vein different means and end.
Gen 1:27-28, so God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them. And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: if God had intended the so called same sex marriage, he would have as well leave man lonely without creating a woman and device his own supernatural way of multiplying the earth. Remember, the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah was because of the sin of homosexuality, Leviticus 18:22, Thou shall not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination and Lev 20:13, If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them.
Conclusively, the battle against this disease, (because I see it as a disease) involves every right thinking individual who still have some moral preservation. It is our duties to educate and counsel those who seem to be disposed towards this ugly and awkward act. Rather than allowing them to influence us, let us work together to influence the perverted ones among us.
Good must be done and evil must be totally avoided.
Shalom!

A Dysfunctional child.
In every home there are needs that are very essential to the daily existence of our children. If some of these needs are not met as at when required then a lot of things could go wrong. There is always the physical, emotional and the spiritual need and when any of these is lacking there tends to be Loss of trust in the parents, bridge in communication and listening, loss of respect for parents, lots of skeletons in the cupboard (keeping of secrets), tendency to ignore inappropriate behaviour, loss of feelings etc.In a family, where the physical needs of the children like food, clothing, shelter etc are not met either as a result of the parents inability to provide because of unemployment, sickness or because either of the parent has the sole responsibility of raising the children alone (single parenthood), the children suffer unduly and has to look for a means to an end all by themselves. Such children are often seen on the streets begging for alms, involved in underage prostitution, picking pockets, snatching of handbags etc.
Emotional need is much more complex and usually very difficult and more subtle to detect. It is the need for acceptance, affirmation and love from parents or guardian. Most children who feel they do not have the love of their parents, grow up to unstable, unloving, they lack emotions, self esteem, confidence and they tend to be impaired/dysfunctional persons when the grow up. The results of this; the children often have behaviour disorders, they are poor in their academics, they don’t mix or make friends easily, they fight at every given opportunity, and they tend to be loners.
Finally the spiritual need, as earlier discussed in a previous post, the often missing dimension in marriage, so also it is with our children. They must be given the opportunity to know God and serve him, if you are godly, then teach your children to also obey (Eph. 6:1; 1 Tim. 3:4), give them the necessary guidance and direction on how to know God and be disciplined into a mature relationship with him. Remember that parents must teach God’s truth at all times Deut. 4:9; 32:46). Failure to do this can result in untold hardship as a result of loses of direction and focus.
Our children are our greatest assets, our most valuable investments and also the most valuable fruit of the kingdom of God; let us therefore faithfully bring them up so that we can be confident that our efforts from age 0-9months and beyond will not be in vain (Prov. 22:6).

Prove yourself trustworthy
I have heard that two wrongs never a make a right so many times, and I always relate it to when two people are in a dispute or serious argument over something. But recently I got to relate it to marriage and what I find was not too palatable at all. Sometimes when a spouse does something wrong, the other partner, in most cases find it very difficult to correct especially where the husband is the culprit, some wife will rather be mum than risk the wrath of the husband. I have witness cases like the father asking a child to tell a visitor he does not want to see that he is not at home, while he was right there in his bedroom, the wife did not see anything wrong with it. We need to prove ourselves worthy of our families trust especially our growing children. Some men lied to their wives about their whereabouts after office hours and vice versa. Remembering what apostle Paul wrote in 2 Cor. 13:5a “prove your own selves”. Because everyone make mistake, you are not expected to be perfect, (Eccl 7:20 “For there is not a just man upon earth, that do good, and sinned not.”) but does the pattern of your behaviour give your family members or people around you reason to doubt you and withhold their trust?Lastly remember also that the degree to which you are trusted is a result of how trustworthy you have proven yourself either in your home, office, among friends and relatives.

The seasons of one’s life.

The last son disagreed with all of them; he said it was ripe and drooping with fruit, full of life and fulfillment.

If you give up when it's winter, you will miss the promise of your spring, the beauty of your summer, and fulfillment of your fall. Don't let the pain of one season destroy the joy of all the rest. Don't judge life by one difficult season. Persevere through the difficult patches and better times are sure to come some time or later.
For as many passing through one difficulty or other, please take it from me, suicide is not an option, it is a sin against your creator, you’re are telling God that he did not create you well. Also know that even though Happiness keeps You Sweet, it is Trial that keep You Strong, Sorrow that make You Human, Failure keep You Humble, Success keeps You Glowing, BUT ONLY GOD KEEPS YOU GOING!

HIV/AIDS?
Few months back I had to go to the clinic for antenatal registration, and at the end of it I was given such a huge bill that I had to exclaim. But upon questioning the accounts clerk I was given the breakdown of the payment and I was so surprise to see HIV/AIDS test boldly written on the receipt. This gave me a scare because it never really occurred to me that you have to do such tests when you go in for such registration. Maybe I was told and I was like, that does not have anything to do with me! So I didn’t pay attention to it. But believe me, after I left the clinic, even though I have no reason to be bothered, I kept wondering about it and I could not wait until my next visit to ask for the outcome. Sure it was negative, as I knew it was going to be. Then the question of who gave who arose, both claimed they have been faithful. Few months after this, the wife died and later the child, still the man kept mute and tongues started wagging about the sister been the perpetrator since she died first. Then the man developed symptoms too and it was on his deathbed he confessed that when the wife was pregnant at the early stage and could not fulfil her marital obligations, he had to look elsewhere for sex because he was so used to it then that abstinence was difficult for him to cope with. Imagine that!
Saturday 1st Dec 2007, is another world’s AID day, how do you feel about this? Some don’t believe AIDS is real, some believe they cannot have it, while others don’t think it’s worth a second thought. But please hear this, people that are afraid of confronting the issue of AIDS are usually the ones to be infected simply because of their non-committal attitude towards it. Be blessed and please live a healthy life.

Children’s Lack of Discipline.
Lack of control or restrain is so common in our society today and I really don’t know whom to hold responsible for this. Is it the mother’s fault? Or is the father lacking in his responsibility to the child? Could it be the child refused to listen to reason? Where did the problem originate? This is one seemingly intractable problem in most families today.
Indiscipline manifests in such areas as examination malpractices, secret cult menace, unprotected sex, unwanted pregnancies, bribery and corruption, prostitution (both male and female now). There are crisis everywhere you turn in the society as a result of undisciplined youths, most parents neglect the care of their children in search of greener pastures or better prospects and by the time they get their breakthrough, they are total strangers to their children who have become uncontrollable and distant.
Most parents today leave their children in the care of maids and child sitters or sometimes to their own devices thinking they are old enough to take care of themselves, they come in from their place of work only to rush out to meet with their charity group, their club friends, attend dinner at friends house and so on thinking all is well until something otherwise happen.
Parents should take up the challenge of raising God fearing, obedient and disciplined children, this will better our own lives, give us peace in our old age and make the world a better place for everyone to live in. Think of it, there will be little or no perversion, rape, kidnapping for whatever purpose, robbery, smuggling, corruption, drugs etc. In other to achieve this, you can;
- Teach him to pray as soon as he/she can speak or old enough to understand what prayer means.
- Correct cruelty to others either human or animal,
- Tell the child not to lie or correct a lie whenever it is uttered, do not punish a fault that is freely confessed, but never allow a disobedient act to go unpunished.
- Teach them to love others always as themselves,
- Don’t give them room to satisfy their own desires or adhere to their own opinions, it could lead to selfishness or destructive habit when denied,
- Give him whatever he politely asks for, if it’s good for him but deny him whatever he cries for whether it is good for him or not.
- Don’t make empty promises or promises you know you cannot fulfill, honor every promise you make to them.
- Commend them when well behaved and reward when necessary.
Remember Prov 22:6, train up a child in the way he should go, when he is old, he will not turn from it.
Be blessed.

Who should be responsible for household chores?
The other guy is a bachelor and he felt that was an abnormal way to treat a woman whom you professed to love and cherish, I agreed with him because the guy turned his wife into a slave in her own house.
I don’t think it is right for a man to leave all the housework for the woman alone coupled with her responsibility as a wife and mother. If the husband cannot assist directly due to a reason or the other, and the children are not old enough to also lend a helping hand, then he should employ a maid for her; take up the gender roles in the household duties to reduce the work overload on the woman.
Men should remember that how they use/treat their wives has a direct effect on the looks/appearance and health of the woman. Even though the husband is the head of the family, he should be ready to relieve the woman of some of her duties once in a while and also be willing to share the household duties equally with the woman and also adapt his lifestyle to being married just as the woman did.

What a sad world!
My questions are;
Are such persons human?
What goes through their mind when perpetrating such evil?
Were such people born with paedophilic tendencies or was it developed over the years?
What make some people so cruel, wicked and unfeeling that even the cries that emanate from their victims is not enough to deter them from committing the evil act?
Friends, after reading this story from NAFASG, I could not stop crying at the inhumanity of some people. It could have been any other child from any part of the world, they are everywhere, please lets be very careful with our young ones.
May God protect us all.
